Former Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha has condemned today the violence of Edi Rama’s government against the journalists and media reporters, calling it “a major danger to the Albanians’ freedoms”.

“An unprecedented wave of terror has occurred against the journalist recently, mainly crime beat reporters, sometimes also against their superiors”, Berisha writes on his Facebook page.

“Within three weeks in Tirana, six reporters, photo reporters and media directors have been beaten by the crime phalanges, more than in any war area in the globe”.

Berisha has written the names of all the violated media representatives, starting with the publisher of the daily Koha Jonë, Nikollë Lesi, then the reporter of TV Klan Plus Renaldo Salianji in the parliamentary Committee of Law; the TV News 24 reporters Doriana Bezat, which was not allowed to report on the protest of the residents of the area known as Bregu i Lumit, and Erion Skëndaj, who was not allowed to report on the protest in front of the parliament. Following are the reporter of Tema TV, Eliza Gjediku, who lost her consciousness due to the use of teargas; photo reporter Arben Dajçi, who was hit on his head during the Saturday rally and the journalists of the show Fix Fare who were threatened by the Mayor of Puka.

Berisha blamed Premier Edi Rama for “the terror campaign” against the media, whose hate for the media inspires gangsters, criminals and traffickers to attack the reporters.

“I appeal to OSBE, Council of Europe, Committee of Helsinki of the US Congress, the Committee for Human Rights in the European Parliament, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, Reporters without Borders to intervene strongly to give an end to this terror storm against media representatives in the Albanian narco-state”, Berisha wrote.
