Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha has promised today the lift of the road toll for the Nation’s Road – which connects the harbor of Durrës with Kukës in northeast and Kosovo – once his party comes to power.

Basha met today with residents of Paskuqan area in the Albanian capital and one of them told his small business is going bankrupt due to high taxes, including the new charge for the national road.

The Democrat chairman promised the toll will be lifted once he comes to power.

“I give you my word I will be by your side till we win this battle. A government with low taxes and jobs for all Albanians is waiting for us ahead”, Basha said.

“Albania has the possibilities to reduce taxes. We have a plan already which includes a reduction of oil price with 30 Lek, reduction of the taxes for the small businesses with 0.5% of annual net profit and no other tax, neither local nor central”.

“We’ll lift the toll for the Nation’s Road. This government must be removed. It is not connected to the citizens but to criminals”.

Angry citizens from Kukës destroyed and set fire to the toll booths when the new tax was introduced last years.
