The Albanian government is on the brink of bankruptcy. After the lack of cash for retirement pensions which led to the proposal of increasing the retirement age, now the government has no money to pay the police force.

The bad management of funds and has made the police departments to send the effectives on forced vacations as they have no money to pay for overtime. This is what it says in an order dated February 1, signed by Director General Ardi Veliu.

According to the order, the police effectives in the whole country will not be paid anymore for their overtime hours. Veliu suggests the compensation of the effectives with days off instead of money.
