Ever since Premier Edi Rama fired him, former Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj has remained silent. Apart from a few public appearances by the side of Tirana’s Mayor Erion Veliaj and sitting with other unhappy socialist MPs in the parliament, Xhafaj had expressed no dissatisfaction against Rama and his close circle… Till today, when in the meeting of the parliamentary Committee of Laws Xhafaj opposed Edi Rama’s direct proposal to change the Regulation of the Parliament.
Xhafaj’s position was openly against the Socialist majority, arguing that the Regulation cannot be changed any time someone wants to, saying it has been changed eight times since 2005.
“The frequent changes of the Regulation of the Parliament are neither fair nor normal”, Xhafaj said, underlining that the Regulation is a kind of a Constitution of the parliament functioning.
