The Democratic Party of Albania (PD) has reacted immediately after the Commission of Vetting reconfirmed the prosecutor Donika Prela at the helm of the Prosecution for Serious Crimes.

"By keeping Donika Prela in the justice system, the vetting process reconfirmed itself as a tool in Edi Rama’s hands”, Democrat MP Enkelejd Alibeaj said following the decision. “Rama needs Prela to protect him from justice and to close the cases of Saimir Tahiri, VAngjush Dakor and Damian Gjiknuri for votes theft”.

“The decision to keep Donika Prela confirms that the Judiciary Reform has failed and it has humiliated the International Monitoring Operation too. The international observers found out that Donika Prela, within a short time, has sold property with prices four times higher than buying the prices and she has not been able to justify the purchase of several apartments with the declared income; they found out Prela’s husband has not paid taxes for many year, being suspected for money laundering”.

Alibeaj said the Vetting Commission, unlike other cases, chose to ignore these facts and kept Prela in the system of justice as a servant of Premier Edi Rama.
