The parliamentary Committee of Economy rejected President Ilir Meta’s candidature for the chairman of the State Supreme Audit Institution (KLSH), Bahri Shaqiri.

The Committee chairman and former minister of Finances Arben Ahmetaj said the President’s proposal was not a suitable candidature.

“Shaqiri has no experience in the financial auditions”, Ahmetaj said.

The Committee’s decision will pass to the parliament which is also expected to reject Meta’s proposal. Barhi Shaqiri is known as one of the Albanian President’s advisers.

This is the second candidature rejected after Meta’s first proposal Vitore Tusha. The parliament rejected it with the excuse it would create an impasse in the new justice institutions because Tushe is the only member of the Constitutional Court that passed the vetting and became a member of the Justice Nominations Council (KED).
