Albanian President Ilir Meta refused to comment today Premier Edi Rama’s decision to delegate his capacities as Foreign Minister to the vice minister Gent Cakaj. Cakaj was Rama’s candidate to replace the dismissed minister Ditmir Bushati but President Meta refused to decree him due to his lack of experience and also some mistakes during his tenure as Bushati’s vice.
Rama then appointed himself as the new Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs and, after being decreed by Meta, delegated the competences to Cakaj.
Asked for a comment on Rama’s decision, the Albanian President said he does “neither interfere nor comment the acts of internal organizations of the executive or the ministries”.
