Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha appealed to Albanian Premier Edi Rama to stop the police violence on the protesting students otherwise the country will go towards a civil conflict.

Basha accused the Prosecution Office as accomplice and demand an inquiry over the police intervention in the universities, in violation of the law.

“We are the only country in Europe and the world where the police enter in the university premises where the students are protesting legitimately”, Basha said today.

“The law on the higher education says clearly that the police intervention can occur only with institution’s head request and the violation of untouchability is punished by law”.

“I appeal to the prosecution to investigate. With its silence, the prosecution is becoming an accomplice of the criminal groups of a mad man that has ordered the violation of the students. Full support for every action of the students and their just demands, the opposition will continue to protect the students’ rights. This flagrant violation of the law is pushing the country on the brink of a civil conflict. I appeal to Rama to stop his repression on the students, to stop the psychological violence against them”.
