Former Albanian Premier Sali Berisha has reminded Premier Edi Rama the accusations of selling stolen icons in France, made by another former Prime Minister, Fatos Nano, Rama’s predecessor at the helm of the Socialist Party.

Speaking to moderator Adi Krasta in “A Show” on News 24, Berisha said Nano had accused Rama of selling the icons when he was an emigrant in France.

In a debate with students in the University of Vlora, Rama answered a question about his mansion by saying he had been an emigrant and had earned money there.

“Rama said he had been an emigrant, but there was an accusation against him, which was never proved. Fatos Nano said to him he had sold stolen icons. It’s a known fact that the communist cast took the icons when the churches were pulled down (in 1967). I know this very well”, Berisha said.

“Has Rama declared the wealth he says he made in France? Did he pay taxes? He has 1 thousand square kilometers of dwelling area in Surrel and asked a student about his iPhone. This is mental”.
