The scandal of the offshore company DH Albania, which earned two public contracts with forged documents has prompted the Konfindustria to propose a bill that will ban the companies registered in fiscal havens from entering in the public procurements or any cooperation with state agencies.

The absence of a strong judiciary system makes such a measure even more necessary according to head of Konfindustria Gjergj Buxhuku.

“We do not have a system capable to track these companies”, Buxhuku said, adding that representatives of the judiciary may have hidden their wealth in the fiscal havens.

The government says the contract with DH Albania has not damaged the state finances, because the guarantee the company left when the agreement was signed will be sequestered. However, Buxhuku thinks differently, saying the shell companies have extended their activity in the financial and banking sectors, infrastructure and technology.
