The Democratic Party (PD) has requested the arrest and indictment of Mayor of Durrës Vangjush Dako for “clear electoral crimes”. The declaration was made by Democrat MP Oerd Bylykbashi.

“The Democratic Party requests the arrest and indictment of Vangjush Dako without any further delay. The evidence of Vangjush Dako’s electoral crimes is clear and for that he must be in jail”, Bylykbashi said today.

“The interceptions in the file number 339 have proved Vangjush Dako has been in continuous communication with criminal groups before, during and after the elections. It’s the same groups that today earn bids, licenses and construction permits in Durrës”.

“The file 339 proves the pattern of Edi Rama’s rising to power through giving the public assets to the criminal groups in exchange of bought or robbed votes. Vangjush Dako must be arrested immediately”.

“With every day in freedom he destroys evidence and manipulates the witnesses, with Premier Rama’s full support. The electoral crime has blocked the democratic rotation and the rule of law. Albania will never have justice, nor fight against crime and normal development without punishing the electoral crime that keeps Edi Rama’s illegitimate government in power”.
