Former Minister of Justice Ylli Manjani has addressed six questions to the Prosecution Office related to the arrest of the son of a Socialist Party MP, accused of violence and rape from his former girlfriend. Manjani asked the question after Premier Edi Rama said the Prosecution Office deserved the support of opposition.

“’No words of support from the opposition for the Prosecution Office’, says the Prime Minister. Why should his Political Prosecution be supported? For arresting (after a court order) the son of the deputy two months after the act?! Or because it was forced to arrest him only after the crime became public? Is this why we should say some nice words”, Manjani asked.

“No, the Prosecution Office must give explanations to the public by responding to these questions:

1. Why didn’t they arrest the deputy’s son in July when he violated the girl?

2. Why are not behind bars the police effectives of Kruja which worked to close the case?

3. Why haven’t they started inquiries for attempted murder or at least for threatening because of duty against police officer Emiljano Nuhu?

4. When will they summon the deputy, Taulant Balla, and the Prime Minister to testify? The later must explain his public declaration “we won’t stop hunting down this scoundrel”…

5. Why didn’t (Interior Minister) Fatmir Xhafaj and (Director General of State Police)  Ardi Veliu respond to the cry for help of the police officer Emiliano Nuhu who felt threatened?

6. Who is after the police officer that has now left the country? Who photographed him in the new place? Who sent the photo to the journalist to publish it (of course, the journalist has no responsibilities)? By whose order if the surveillance of the officer is made by the security organs?

Only after clearing the air for these issues could the Prosecution of State deserve support. For the moment, it’s only the Prosecution of Power and let it be satisfied with the support from the government of criminals and violators”.
