Democrat deputy Enkelejd Alibeaj considered as “artificial” the proposal of the Socialist Party (PS) to send the opposition initiative for vetting in politics to the Venice Commission in order to take their opinion.

“Why do you want to postpone it, why are you afraid of the vetting of politicians and the equality before law for the deputies”, Alibeaj asked his Socialist colleagues.

The vice chairman of the Committee of Laws said all the points of the regulations have been checked.

“The content is known, the public is aware of the problem, because we are experiencing every day the criminalization of politics. The Venice Commission defined the standard for the initiative when they spoke about the vetting of prosecutors and judges”.

Pointing out that the opposition initiative is identical to the one accepted by the Venice Commission for the judiciary, Alibeaj said the need to approve the initiative is a national emergency and it must be passed within days.
