President of EPP Women Doris Pack visited Shkodër in the north Albania today where she met Mayor Voltana Ademi, to which she expressed her support for the job Ademi has done.

Ms. Pack said she was shocked by the level of the criminality in the city, with many murdered and lost people.

“I am shocked by the situation of criminality in Shkodër, six murders, two missing persons. The involvement of the police and the minister himself is discussed. If the government is not capable to catch the criminals it does not deserve to enter the European Union. Albanians are leaving not because they do not love their country, but because they do not feel safe. Shkodër is the center of criminality”, Pack said.

“There’s a certain mafia here. I can’t imagine that this is happening in a country that is opening the negotiations. I am mad that such a government is not protecting you and this does not happen only in Shkodër, but in Tirana and Vlorë as well”.

“As long as the government cannot stop mafia and send it before justice, it is not worthy for the EU”.
