Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji told media reporters today the Albanian opposition is determined in its initiative for vetting process for politicians. Salianji spoke after a joint meeting of parliamentary groups of the Democratic Party (PD) and the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI). He said there is negotiating for the initiative, only a Yes or No answer.

“It’s obvious that after we consigned our bill for constitutional modifications with a view to the vetting for politicians Rama and the Socialist Party are refusing the vetting process”, Salianji said. “We are working on a process that would remove all the high functionaries that have links with incriminated persons, starting with the Prime Minister, deputies, mayors and any other function”.

“Rama is refusing our initiative. We can find the ways, but today it is whether the government is or is not willing for the vetting process for the politicians. If the Socialist Party and the government refuse vetting, then we cannot talk about technicalities, which would be premature”.

“Today it is only Yes or No for the vetting for politicians. If the answer is Yes, only then we can unfold the further steps to be taken”.
