Former Mayor of Kavaja Elvis Rroshi has been sentenced to 60 days of community service work from Court of Tirana for forgery of application forms.

The Court at first accepted the Prosecution’s request for 7 months and 15 days in prison, but due to reduced judgement after Rroshi declared guilty, the sentence was reduced to five months and later was converted definitely in community service work, considering also the fact Rroshi had been in home detention for four months.  

The former Socialist Mayor became the first official to be convicted in the framework of the Law of Decriminalization. He was indicted after hiding details from his past, like the sentence for gang rape in Italy in 1992; the expulsions from several European countries and using several names to hide his true identity.

Rroshi had his mandate removed in 2016 and was dismissed, to be arrested later. He objected the measures against him, but later accepted the Prosecution Office’s findings, excusing himself with negligence while filling the forms.
