Chief of the Albanian opposition Lulzim Basha appealed Premier Edi Rama to step down, following his government’s failure to reach the opening of the accession negotiations with the European Union.

Basha said the government failed and it’s time for Rama to go.

"Today is the day to say it clearly and openly. Edi Rama and his government have failed in every aspect. He is the only Prime Minister without a single success in the last 28 years concerning Albania’s European integration. This is the only government grabbed by the interests of crime and oligarchs”, Democratic Party chairman Basha said in the parliament today.

“Now we’ll have to wait for December 2019 and only if we fulfill the conditions. This is not the worst news, the postponement till December 2019. The worst news is that unless we change the government the outcome will be the same. That’s why it’s our duty to change it as soon as possible. You cannot go to Europe behaving like an oriental satrap”.
