Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha said in the Albanian parliament today the majority in the German Bundestag has decided not to give the green light to opening the EU accession negotiations with Albania and in addition they have decided to send a control team, because Albanian Premier Edi Rama has lied about everything. Basha said the decision has been taken last night and Edi Rama has been informed about it.

“This failed majority and government are repeatedly trying to give the impression everything is going normally. Edi Rama was informed the other day, as I was informed as well, for a decision with dire consequences for the fate of Albania’s EU integration. Yet, he comes here and plays the uninformed or tries to hide and manipulate it through his media”, Basha said.

“Last night, only 24 hours after the meeting Macron-Merkel, the German CDU and CSU, which are Democratic Party’s and Socialist Party’s sister parties respectively, have unified their positions in relations with the opening of the negotiations with Albania. As Edi Rama knows pretty well, it’s the worst news the Albanians were expecting, but the decision has been taken. Edi Rama has lied, he has not done his homework; Albania has not fulfilled the conditions for the opening of the negotiations”.

“For the first time ever, not only conditions but also a control has been imposed on Albania, because Edi Rama has lied till today”.
