Former minister of health in Edi Rama’s previous cabinet and four Socialist MPs have received €78 million worth public tenders from the government, the Democratic Party (PD) revealed today.

The chairwoman of the PD department of anti-corruption Lealba Pelinku said former minister of health Ilir Beqja, and deputies Sadri Abazi, Xhemal Qefalia and Pjerin Ndreu have all received 78 million Euros.

“There are at least four deputies that benefit from public money through their companies, in most cases without competition”, Pelinku said.

“Ilir Beqaj is Edi Rama’s closest man who continues to take hundreds of millions of Leks from the Albanians taxes. Recently, Intech+, a company possessed de facto by Beqaj won a tender worth €1.1 million without competition. During Edi Rama’s tenure as Prime Minister, Beqaj has received €29 million worth tenders”.

“During the same period, Sadri Abazi has received €34 million of public money, while Xhemal Qefalia and Pjerin Ndreu have won public tenders worth €8.1 million and €7 million respectively”.
