Tirana’s Mayor Erion Veliaj was ejected from the parliament offices today after refusing to leave the meeting of the parliamentary Committee of Media where he was not invited.

After staying there for nearly 60 minutes in violation of the parliament rules, Veliaj was ejected from the premises of the Committee of Media, where the minister of culture Mirela Kumbaro was summoned to report about the building of the National Theatre building that the government plans to destroy.

Once the sessions started, Veliaj requested to speak, ignoring the fact that he was invited for tomorrow’s meeting. Tirana’s Mayor ignored the repeated requests of the Committee Chairwoman Albana Vokshi to leave the room, and in addition the officers of the National Guard refused to obey Vokshi’s order to take him out.
