Albanian Premier Edi Rama abandoned the press conference he was holding in Tirana’s Mother Theresa Airport today after a question he did not like from a reporter of Fax News TV.

“Doesn’t the Socialist Party have people who do not have brothers or relatives linked to drugs (traffic) to head the Ministry of the Interior?”, was the question that made Rama furious.

The Prime Minister chose not to respond to the question, interrupting the press conference and going away.

The debate between Premier Rama and the reporter Ambroziana Meta:

Rama: You had another last worry. Give her the microphone to let her worry go.

Reporter: Actually, my concern is about the question I asked. How do you feel when of the two persons you entrusted with the most important ministry the first is in home detention for drug traffic, the second is accused of protecting his brother? Are there not in the Socialist Party representatives who do not have relatives or brothers that deal with drugs traffic to lead this ministry?

Rama: First of all, these are two quite different things. Second, ask your boss – because he has a brother too – whether he would be ready to be held accountant for his brother’s acts.

Reporter: I am asking you, because you are the Prime Minister and govern the country…

Rama: No, excuse me, we are not arguing here. You asked a question and want an answer from me, right? My answer is this: Ask your boss if he is responsible for his brother, they are also in the same field (media business).

Reporter: My boss has nothing to do with the public order and the country’s governance. So, I you’re your question irrelevant. I asked you why should a ministry be so questionable, why should we always have ministers that are implicated since it is one of the most important ministries. So I do not see as relevant the parallel you draw with the television owners that are not linked to the country’s governance.

Rama: And I find it unethical that you come here as a reporter to ask questions and take the microphone and make propaganda. This is unethical. The rules…

Reporter: It’s absolutely not propaganda.

Rama: Please… the rules…

Reporter: It is not propaganda, it’s a question referring to the latest development. We have a former minister in home detention for drugs traffic and we have an Interior Minister that is accused of creating immunity for his brother. My question is why should always be such persons implicated in such cases and accused? This is not propaganda.

Rama: I was very respectful…

Reporter: So am I, but I cannot accept you saing I am making propaganda. Because it is not propaganda. It is just a question.

Rama: Come here and proceed with the press conference so that you can have the last word. (Rama leaves the conference room).
