US Ambassador in Tirana Donald Lu warned against the discrimination of the LGBT community in Albania, mentioning the names of several deputies of the opposition. Mr. Lu was speaking in the forum organized by the parliament about the LGBT rights.

The ambassador remembered the incident of three years ago when he joined the police in the streets to protect the LGBT community members who were riding bicycles from being egged at.

Lu mentioned the names of several deputies and functionaries that have backed the LGBT community and called for caution on some others who have been declared openly against.

“Only a few had the courage (to back the LGBT community). Igli Totozani, Vasilika Hysi, Olta Xhaçka, you’ve got courage”, Lu said.

“We have followed Ylli Manjani, Tritan Shehu and Oriola Pampuri. Be careful, because you represent your electorate as well”.
