Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha released a declaration today in response to the accusations made to the Democratic Party (PD) by Premier Edi Rama for receiving half a million dollars worth funds from some “Russian and not only gentlemen”.

Basha rejected the accusations and declared PD has put at the prosecution’s disposal all its lobbying contracts. By the other hand, he requested from PM Rama to clear the air about his meetings with Russian companies, like Gunvor, and the one that supports the Turkisht company of Vlora’s airport.

The Democrat leader said the accusations are ridiculous and “could be baked only by a megalomaniac mind like Edi Rama’s”.

“PD has not violated any law and has no direct or indirect link to any Russian individual, organization, company or interest”, Basha said in his statement.

“I accused publicly Edi Rama yesterday for his dark links with the Russian company Gunvor, but he hasn’t responded yet, preparing another “Russian salad” like that of Mother Jones, to hide the truth. If there’s a Russian threat to Albania, it comes from Rama the Premier. Not only because he is deep plunged in crime and he can be easily blackmailed by anyone, but also because he has actually welcomed the Russian meddling”, Basha said.
