Albanian Premier Edi Rama has started the reorganization of his Socialist Party branch in Tirana, being unhappy with its performance since former IM Saimir Tahiri left the party functions, following the investigation on him over links to a criminal organization. Currently, the Albanian capital branch of the Socialist Party has been led by Deputy Blerina Gjylameti.
Rama seems determined to strengthen the party structures in Tirana, warning the Socialists they’d lose the elections if they were held today. It’s unknown whether Rama’s prediction is based on some survey conducted by the Socialist Party or contracted agencies, or if it is a warning to Tirana’s Mayor Erjon Veliaj.
“The investments in Tirana do not match the support and votes we received”, Rama is quoted as saying, articulating like this some disappointment for the way Tirana’s Municipality is making its investments.
