Saranda Prosecutor and judiciary police officer arrested, accused of corruption and match fixing

The Prosecutor of Saranda, southern Albania, Sali Hasa, has been arrested today after a warrant issued by the Special Prosecution against Organized Crime and Corruption (SPAK), accused of corruption. An officer of the judiciary police, a soccer referee and an official of Përmeti football club have also been arrested, all suspected of corruption and match fixing.

“Upon request of the Prosecution, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime has remanded in custody Sali Hasa, prosecutor in the Prosecution at the Court of First Instance Saranda, suspected of committing the criminal offense of "Passive corruption of judges, prosecutors and other justice officials", provided by Article 319 / ç of the Criminal Code”, SPAK said in its announcement today.

Napolon Hodaj, a judiciary police officer in the Prosecution at the Court of First Instance, Saranda, was “suspected of committing the criminal offense of "Exercising illegal influence on persons exercising public functions", provided by Article 245/1, second paragraph of the Criminal Code”.
