An Italian Mafioso clan boss in Albanian prison infected with coronavirus

An Italian national is the first coronavirus case reported in an Albanian penitentiary. The Italian, 42, was arrested in 2018 by RENEA, the Albanian police special forces.

Sources told Albanian TV ABC News the man with the initials G.C. of Bari was arrested in Durrës over drugs traffic charges. He is known as one of the capos of the Mafioso clan Di Cosimo in the Italian city and a warrant was issued for him since 2017.

A few months ago, SPAK, the Albanian Special Anti Corruption Prosecution Office sequestered nine assets registered to the name of G.C., among them a factory for the production of plastic in Shijak, arable and construction land 5,000 and 954 square meters respecitvely, four vehicles and two bank accounts with 3 million Albanian Lek and €22 thousand respectively.

Currently G.C. is in remanded custody waiting for the trial, distanced from the other inmates.
