The Italian firefighter is hopeful: In L’Aquila we saved people after 72 hours under rubbles

An Italian firefighter that is helping Albanian rescue teams in the areas hit by the earthquake of November 26 said there is still hope for persons that are under the rubbles. The Italian firefighter is working with his Albanian colleagues to rescue members of the Lala family whose house was destructed by the quake.

“We are 160 Italian firefighters, specialized in search under the ruins. Others will join us. There is still time, in L’Aquila we rescued people that had been for 72 hours under rubbles. We always work with the aim to rescue people”, the firefighter said.

He added it is a difficult operation “because the house has been demolished entirely and the four floors have ended on top of one another”.

Extra caution is necessary not to injure the persons that are blocked below.
