New facts have come to light concerning the record cocaine haul seized by Albanian police last month in the harbor of Durrës. The new evidence drops Premier Edi Rama’s declarations that the international partners had no information or suspicions about the drugs traffic from Colombia.

Donald Lushaj, the manager of “Arbri Garden”, the company that imported bananas from Colombia, said before the judge today that the container where the quantity of 613 kilos of cocaine was hidden had been kept for inspection in Italy.

“I have been working for four years as manager of “Arbri Garden”. The orders were made by Arbër Çekaj, 25-30 days ahead. The company’s containers arrived two weeks late. They were kept for inspection in Livorno, Italy, and Arbër received a bill worth €4 thousand to pay for that inspection”, Lushaj said in the courtroom.

The testimony now only drops down the declarations of the Albanian government for the authorship of the action, but it also raises strong suspicions about a big internal job aiming the salvation not only of the importing company’s owner but also of the “big fish” that ordered and financed the international traffic.
