Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha has commemorated today the victims of communism in Albania, in the European Day of Remembrance for Victims of Stalinism and Nazism.

“Nearly 100 million people found their deaths from communism, murdered directly for political reasons or indirectly as a consequence of the misery the communism brought upon millions”, Basha writes in his Facebook page.

“Albania occupies a special place in the dark book of communism, because of the criminal cruelty of Enver Hoxha and his band, against their own people. Tens of thousands lost their lives because of the violence of the Albanian communist regime, executed without trial and dead in prisons. Hundreds of thousands were political prisoners or sent to internment camps”.

“Today, in the European Day of Remembrance for Victims of Stalinism and Nazism, the lost and destroyed lives from the Albanian Stalinism are a serious accusation against our society that never condemned fully the communist murderers and criminals; never reflected seriously against the communist ideology, spirit and mentality; and never blocked the way to the communists return to power”.
