Premier Edi Rama’s new government will have a broad base of cooperation with the citizens, but few minister cabinets. In September 2013, Rama decided to increase the number of ministries to 19 and the government cabined consisted of 21 people, including the Prime Minister and his deputy.

After the victory of this year’s elections, Rama promised significant cuts in the governing cabinet.

TV Ora News reports there is a project to leave only ten ministries, halving the number and giving more competences to different ministries.

The ministries that will not change include the Interior Ministry, where Fatmir Xhafaj will be reinstalled as minister; the ministries of Justice, Defense and Health.

It is understood the new Deputy Premier will also lead one of the ministries, most probably the Agriculture.

The Ministry of Education will have added competences, taking the culture, while it is expected a merge of the ministry f Finances with that of Economy.
