The Democratic Party executive will gather to approve the candidatures for the chairman election, after the deadline for registering expired today.
The two PD vice chairmen, Edi Paloka and Edmond Spaho, have made it clear through a press release the rules to follow for the election of the new chief, rejecting to respond to some requests made by the critical voices like Astrit Patozi or Eduard Selami.
Paloka and Spaho explained why the elections, scheduled for July 22, cannot be postponed, as suggested by Selami. They said that, based on the Statute, the elections are held every four years and for that reason a postponement would be a violation of the Statute.
“The last election was held on July 22nd, 2013. The coming election will be held on July 22nd, 2017”, the press release says.
