Despite the Law of Decriminalization, people with criminal records still appear in the list of the candidates of the Socialist Party.

So far, seven candidates result to have been proceeded. During the last mandate, the Socialist Party had a considerable number of deputies and Mayors with criminal past.

The following are the Socialist candidates with criminal records:

Ismet Beqiraj

He is the fourth name in the list for the district of Fier. In his Decriminalization form, Beqiraj writes he has been taken into custody by police on May 26^th 1996, in the day of the general elections. He was kept for 24 hours in the police station of Ballsh, but no proceeding started against him. He’s been detained once again by Ballsh police in February 1997 for verification.

Alban Ramohitaj

Number 10 in the Socialist list in Durrës. The Court of Durrës sentenced him with two months in prison in 2004, converted to 18 months on probation, after he was found guilty for stealing electric power.

In 2008, the Court of Pavia in Italy opened a lawsuit against him, after he was caught with an Albanian non-effective driving license. Ramohitaj has written he made an agreement with the Italian justice, accepting the charge.

Granit Kërxhalliu

Number 29 in the PS list for Tirana. He has been accused from the Prosecution Office on Septemeber 25^th, 2012 of obstructing the execution of a court rule. The Court of Tirana sentenced him with mandatory presence, while the Court of Appeal closed the case.

Ardit Konomi

Number 7 in Korça’s PS list. He has reported in his form about a lawsuit for violation of the rules of the road circulation. His case was closed on December 30, 1997.

Myzafer Bushaj

Number 10 in the Socialist Party list for Shkodra. Detained for the period September 21-24, 2009, after a car accident. The Court declared him not guilty.

Pjerin Ndreu

The second name in the list of Lezha. Ndreu is currently a Member of the Parliament. He was arrested in Septemeber 2004, for malicious use of phone calls, but was ruled not guilty. He had reported the incident in the previous form as well.

Spartak Braho

Number 19 in the PS list for Tirana. He has declared a sentence of a 10 thousand Leks penalty for defamation in December 22^nd, 1995. Braho had already reported his sentence in the form he previously consigned to the Central Electoral Commission.
