Albanian Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj has suggested to the head of the Prosecution for Serious Crimes Bujar Hajdarmataj to summon Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha and Democrat MP Sali Berisha as persons that have proof about the receiver of the haul of 613 kilos of cocaine that was seized in Durrës last month.

Through a letter addressed to Hajdarmataj, the Interior Minister says the two Democrat deputies should be called to testify because they have made public statements saying they know who is making the drugs traffic in the country and especially for the proof they say they have about the receiver of the Colombian cocaine that was hidden in a bananas shipment.

“From their public statements, it is evident the fact that Mr. Sali Berisha and Mr. Lulzim Basha pretend they have knowledge about concrete facts related to the clans of drug traffic in Albania”, the minister writes in his letter. “According to the same declarations, they have knowledge about the possessors and benefiters of the quantity of 613 kilograms of cocaine sequestered recently in the harbor of Durrës”.
