Mayor of Shkodër Voltana Ademi has appealed to the government and the parliament to change the scheme of the economic help for poor families, or the situation will degenerate to war.

She made her warning during a meeting of the municipal council. Ademi, from the Democratic Party, expressed her indignation after 2461 families were excluded from the scheme of the economic assistance.

"None of the excluded families results with errors in applications from the previous years. They all have been treated rightfully with economic help. Telling them to reapply is the biggest fraud that can be done to a poor family”, Ademi said. “Why should these 2461 families reapply? Why should they be kept waiting around”.

Ms. Ademi said there is no transparence in the process and added she had sent two letters to the parliament Speaker Gramoz Ruçi, Premier Edi Rama and the chairpersons of the parliamentary groups.

“Either the scheme must be changed or we’ll go to war, because I do not see a situation heavier than this”, Ademi said.
