Former minister of Justice Ylli Manjani has addressed three questions to General Prosecutor Arta Marku after the extradition of Nezir Seitaj to Italy yesterday, where he faces charges of being the financier of the international drug trafficking criminal organization.

Manjani says it is necessary to explain the reasons why the member of the Habilajs gang was extradited, because he was under investigation in Albania as well.

Then former minister asked General Prosecutor Arta Marku whether there was a criminal case in progress by the Albanian prosecution over Seitaj, who had been arrested by the Prosecution for Serious Crimes as the owner of the drugs sequestered in Vlorë last September.

“If yes, then why did she allow the extradition without informing first the Ministry of Justice”, Manjani asked.

He also gave a “legal explanation” for those who do not deal with legal affairs: “A person under investigation by the Albanian Prosecution cannot be extradited before the end of the investigation and trial. This is a legal standard of ours and of every country”.

“The suspicion she was appointed at the lead of the Prosecution Office to close the big dossiers has been proved, at least till now. The legal responsibility for Seitaj’s departure falls directly on Arta Marku”, Manjani wrote today.
