The persons elected by the Socialist majority as members of the High Council of the Judiciary and the High Council of the Prosecution do not meet the criteria for such offices, the Democratic Party of Albania said in a press conference today.

Gazmend Bardhi, minister of Justice in the caretaker government last year, exposed the irregularities of Rama’s candidates before the media reporters.

“The candidate for the High Council of the Judiciary, Altin Hazizaj, has declared he has never been sentenced, which is a fake declaration. According to the Directorate of Prisons and the General Prosecution Office he has been sentenced twice for criminal offences”, Bardhi said.

“The document from the sector of decriminalization has been consigned to the parliament, but it has been kept hidden. He should have been disqualified. This makes the list invalid”.

“Sokol Lamaj has evaded the tax obligations, which is flagrant violations of the candidates that come from the advocacy. Administrative measures have been taken against him for tax evasion. This is a forbidding criterion for the candidates. He also delegitimizes the list”.

“The IMO has noticed Ilir Panda has had high politic posts, which is not allowed by law”.

“Kozma Jano, from the documents that have been kept away from the opposition, results to have been a collaborator of the (communist regime) State Security, with the pseudonym “Telefoni”. He has been chairman of the Lusnja branch of the Communist Party and in 2011 was a candidate for the municipality council elections”.

“Alfred Balla does not meet the criteria of the engagement in the civil society in the last five years. His platform is a plagiarism of another candidate (Plarent Ndreca). The IMO says this candidate does not have the necessary integrity to be a candidate”.
