Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha said the opposition has taken an unanimous decision “to start a new wave of protests to stop the craziness of the narco-premier that today became the General Prosecutor too”.

“We’ll start today the work for a massive protest in the first weeks of January”, Basha said after the joint meeting of the Democrat and LSI parliamentary groups, following the election of the interim General Prosecutor Arta Marku with 69 votes from the Socialist majority only.

"Regardless Rama’s gibberish and craziness, the facts are clear: After three years of efforts for a Judicial Reform, today the prosecutor was elected with the votes of one party only, the leaders of which are in front of justice”, Basha said.

“The Constitution does not allow the election of the General Prosecutor with less than 3/5 of the votes. Edi Rama made a coup to close the cases of (former IM) Saimir Tahiri, (Durrës Mayor) Vangjush Dako, (Elbasan Mayor) Qazim Sejdini, (ministers) Gjiknuri, Beqaj, and the high officials caught in stealing and robbery”.

Asked about former Premier Sali Berisha’s proposal to leave the MP mandates, Basha said “we’ll take the best decision in the interest of Albania and Albanians. The parliament of the stolen votes outlawed itself today”.
