Former Speaker of the Albanian Parliament Kastriot Islami said in an interview with the newspaper “Koha Jonë” Albanian Premier Edi Rama will have the fate of his counterparts in Croatia and Romania, respectively Ivo Sanader and Adrian Nastase.

“(The international support for the Socialist Party) is an illusion, I have seen enough in the last 27 years to be clear about such an optic illusion”, said Islami, who has been a Member of Parliament for both the Socialist and the Democratic Party. “I do not want to deal with the foreign ambassadors’ positions, but I’m sure, based on my 27-year experience, that Rama is adding on himself reasons to leave by being punished as “the big fish” not only of the corruption but also as “the only fish” that is keeping the system hostage. That’s exactly what happened to Premier Adrian Nastases in Romania and Premier Ivo Sanader in Croatia. “Surprisingly” they were arrested after they made possible their countries’ entrance in NATO and EU, in Romania’s case, and Croatia in NATO; that is when they had received the maximal evaluation from the highest officials in Washington and Brussels. It is not hard for Brussels and Washington to understand the Machiavellian games of the Balkan leaders, backing the expectations of the citizens by punishing their corrupt and incriminated leaders that make efforts to take everything under their control”.

The Socialist majority will vote for the election of the Interim General Prosecutor tomorrow and Islami sees it as the beginning of Rama’s end.

“One thing is certain, Rama is going downwards to his end, even though he and many others refuse to see or believe it. The mistakes he will make till the end will only determine whether his removal will be “soft” or with punishment”, Islami said.
