Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha rejected Premier Edi Rama’s invitation to find a consensus for the election of the interim General Prosecutor.

“Violating the Constitution for the election of the (interim) General Prosecutor undermines the Judiciary Reform and puts it under Edi Rama’s full control”, Basha said.

“Electing the General Prosecutor without the vetting process is not only anti-constitutional, but also a mockery to Albanians, hypocrisy with the vetting process. Edi Rama must obey the Constitution and not allow the Prosecutor’s election by Saimir Tahiri”.

According to the Democrat leader it is quite clear Rama sabotaged the establishment of the High Council of the Prosecution and now is looking for a prosecutor under his control.

“The only request to Edi Rama is to obey the Constitution. If he violates the Constitution in order to seize the post of the General Prosecutor, he will clash with the opposition”, Basha warned.
