Albanian Premier Edi Rama warned the European Union his country and the whole region of the Western Balkans will try to find allies elsewhere if EU keeps ignoring it.
“China, Russia and Turkey will offer us something else”, Rama said in Brussels.
“China has a lot to offer”.
European diplomat Thomas Mayr-Harting tried to assure Rama the European Union is still paying attention to the Western Balkans but at the same time did not find Rama’s warning as credible.
“I doubt any of the countries of the region will become a member of the Chinese famile”, the Austrian diplomat said.
Rama avoided a direct answer to the questions about many Albanians leaving the country, saying many Croatians are leaving their country too.
“Last year only, 50 thousand Croatians left the country, but no one is speaking about that”, Rama said.
