The motives of former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri’s trip to Germany remain a mystery to date not only to the media but to his entourage as well. When the news broke, his attorney Maks Haxhia said he hadn’t been aware of such a move from his client, and many suggested a possible escape from the country and the investigation over implication in international drugs traffic. Media close to the government said there was nothing to worry, because Tahiri had travelled to Germany to join his father who is being medically treated there.

But Lapsi.al has obtained data from the TIMS system that deny the above explanation. From the data it is revealed that Bashkimi Tahiri, Saimir’s father, left Albania in October 29 and returned in November 3.

Meanwhile, the former minister travelled two weeks later and his trip is no related to his father’s surgery. Another detail from the trip is that Tahiri was accompanied by a former dependant from his tenure as IM.

Saimir Tahiri has many reasons to be worried after an increased international pressure on the government to have the “big fish” arrested and sentenced. With every passing day, Tahiri is taking the shape of a big fish that is ready to jump into the frying pan.
