The bank account of “Rilindja Demokratike”, the newspaper of the Democratic Party, has been frozen since November 1. The newspaper writes this is “a clear political vendetta” from the government.

The editorial of the newspaper writes such a thing didn’t happen even in 1991, when RD confronted the communist dictatorship, adding the government is trying everything to make impossible for the newspaper to function and sell in the market.

“Through an absurd and rushed decision, supported abusively by the government, Rama’s bailiff instruments have frozen illegitimately the bank account of RD from November 1. This is a clear and unprecedented political act. Never in 27 years either RD or other opposition media have had their bank accounts frozen, furthermore in a scandalous and illegitimate way”, the newspaper writes.

“It didn’t happen even in 1991, when RD was confronting with the dictatorship or in 1997, the year of the infamous rebellion. The intention is clear: Making impossible the functioning of the newspaper through freezing its bank account from the government”.
