Italian Interior Minister Marco Minniti paid a short visit to Tirana where he met many high officials of the country, including President Ilir Meta and his homologue Fatmir Xhafaj, but avoided Premier Edi Rama.

Minniti participated in an event organized for the results of the results of Guardia di Finanza’s operation, which aimed discovering the cannabis cultivated areas in Albania. Albanian Interior Minister Xhafaj met Minniti and both signed an agreement, after which the Italian minister headed to the President Meta’s office. He gave a strong message, asking for no one to be untouchable before law, implying former ministers and high officials.

Tahiri’s case and his protection by Rama and the Socialist Party, obstructing his arrest by the prosecution, are still fresh and that’s exactly what Minniti suggested.

Later on, Minniti was received by Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha in a meeting that was not included previously in his agenda.

The Interior Minister of Italy met all the important officials today but one, Prime Minister Edi Rama. A strange case, considering Rama never allows things to do with his government to escape from his hands.

Apparently it is a message from Italy to Edi Rama, after the vote in the Parliament backing Saimir Tahiri.

Nuk mundet një ministër i brendshëm italian të takojë një kapó mafjoz sepse shkatërron reputacionin e vet dhe rrezikon të ndiqet penalisht në Itali. Privilegjin e atij lloj takimi ja rezervon Mogherinit. Minniti nuk është sorosian.
