The Albanian opposition will ask Prime Minister Edi Rama to step down, following the scandal of drug trafficking that has involved former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri. Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha said Rama is the “head of crime” and the opposition will ask him to resign. The Democrat leader added the drugs money was used to buy the elections of June 25.

Basha was talking to the media reporters after a meeting of the opposition parties.

“I’d like to thank all the parties that joined me after my call. We have taken e joint decision, to create the opposition front against crime”, Basha said.

“The united opposition front requests the removal of Edi Rama from the Prime Minister post, as a direct beneficiary of the Mafioso connections with narco- and weapon traffickers. The front asks for an anti-Mafia government and elector reform in order to return the legitimacy to the government”.
