The Court for Serious Crimes has banned former interior minister Saimir Tahiri to travel abroad. Tahiri is under investigation over his implication in international drugs traffic, following the arrest of one of his relatives in Italy and after his name was mentioned in an intercepted phone call.

Tahiri travelled to Germany last month and returned five days later, saying he was there to visit his sick father, but later it resulted to be fake and he had traveled along with a former official of the Ministry of the Interior.

The Prosecution for Serious Crimes requested to arrest Tahiri, but the Socialist majority in the parliament ruled against the Prosecution’s request.
