The Prosecution for Serious Crimes has requested from the Parliament of Albania the authorization to arrest former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri.

The request has been made today.

“The Prosecution for Serious Crimes requests from the Parliament of Albania the authorization for the removal of immunity of MP Saimir Tahiri, in the framework of an enquiry for the penal acts of “Traffic of narcotics”, performed in cooperation”, the request of the Prosecution says.

“The Prosecution for Serious Crimes is making investigations, in cooperation with the Italian authorities, on a criminal organization that has trafficked huge amounts of cannabis sativa from Albania to Italy. Based on the information obtained in the framework of this investigation, the Prosecution for Serious Crimes requests from the Commission of Mandates in the Parliament of Albania the authorization for the arrest, freedom restriction and control of residence for the deputy Saimir Tahiri”.
