The economic situation of Albanian families has significantly worsened in the last years, according to the report of the International Monetary Fund. IMF says Albania is one of the three European countries where the real average wages have decreased continuously in the last three years.

In its last monitoring report on Albanian economy, IMF says the real wages have decreased with 1.7% for the period 2013-2015. The real wage shows the purchasing power, adjusted for the inflation.

Montenegro and Serbia are the other two countries where the real wage has decreased, with respectively 2 and 0.3%.

Average real wages have increased in all the other Eastern and Central European countries, from 3% in Slovenia to 20% in Bulgaria.

The Albanian government is responsible for the real wages decrease, after freezing the administration salaries for three years in a row, while the prices continued to rise.

The same policy of the government was followed in the private sector, where the salaries have remained unchanged or have even decreased.
